New to the forum, and posted this in the small revolver section thinking I had figured out what it was... several gents here commented and suggested posting here as well so..
Recently saved from destruction from a PD evidence locker... it sparked my interest in your forums and I started researching it here for my own knowledge. Really don't know much about Dan Wessons so figured this is a great place to learn. Anyway, it appears chrome or highly polished... very unique cosmetically as the owner must've liked gold plated accents... sharing with all of you...

You have a Model 15-2 21/2" with standard shroud circa 1978 or 79. It appears polished blue, as it left the factory but if you think it is aftermarket hard chrome it might be the photography that makes me think it is blue. The last photo with the red background does look different. Yes, the gold accents are custom.

I have tried to go thru some of the forum and come up with a model and date.
Any help would be much appreciated. I have a Dan Wesson 357 Magnum with 2-1/2" barrel and rubber grip. Ser # 256442.
It is blued and has fixed sites. Was made in Monson.
I think it may be model 15 but not sure.
Does my serial number tell a model and date of man. maybe?

Thank you for the info. Can you tell just from the pictures or the serial number?
Ole Dog can tell by both and 50 years experience
The Model by the pictures and the age by the serial number. Scout, I bought my first firearm in in Dec 2012 and my first Dan Wesson a month later. My first smart phone in 2013 opened up the internet for me and then I became addicted to Gunbroker. The Dan Wesson Forum taught me a lot and the Forum friends I made helped me learn. A shout out to Snake-eye, Mark SAA, Hugelk, CBurton, Stinger and many others. My dear departed S&W expert Sal Raimundo taught me much about Smiths and firearm in general. As did my other departed friend and FFL Jeff Dill. I apologize for not mentioning many others.
