Does anyone know if the Weigand scope mount fit the model 15-2 .357 shrouds?  They say fits all Med-Large frames but believe the 15-2 is classified as a small frame DW?

I have a 8" non-vented shroud/bbl that I do not mind drilling and tapping for a scope.

I emailed them but have not heard back yet.

I believe the mount should work on the small frames as well.  Someone else should be able to tell us for sure.

I have  drilled and tapped a weigand to my 44mag . Very pleased with it and I did check it to the 15-2 I have . There is just couple thousand wiggle on both ribs so i held it to one side . I have a burris red dot on it.

Weigand replied that as long as the rib is 3/8" [15-2 is] then their mount will fit.

Going to order one now - Thanks for replies!

Here's one on a M-15 8" IMSHA shroud with Weaver 4x32 scope. Wasn't really trying to show the base however. I switched all mine over to their bases from the clamp on mounts.

As the posts above show, it should.  I also have a 357 barrel on the way to me with such a mount already installed. I'll post pix when they arrive. Best! DW41F.

It fits both the Small and Large frame DW's, it just an error that is common among the various people and manufactures that are not DW buff's like us.

I have their mounts on 722, 715, 744, M22, M15, and M44, think that should clear it up for you.

If that is a weigand, it is a nice one.... Looks like an original DW to me.

It does look like the one DW mount I bought couple years ago on special through CZ, look close mine is even stamped Dan Wesson. The big difference is DW is shorter on back end, and only goes about mid frame. Also Weigand overall is about 2" longer and can't be used on 4" barrel, where DW can.

The 44 with Weigand mount. Notice how far back it comes, and the overall length compared to DW mount.

Shootist,

A keen eye you have.  I stand correted.  The scope mount in my photo is stamped Dan Wesson.  I also have a few Weigands and never studied the difference before.  Thanks for showing me the light!

Does the Weigand mount attach only to the rib on the barrel shroud or is there also a frame attachment?

What I am hoping for is to be able to just remove the barrel shroud (along with the scope mount) and switch to another barrel/shroud like you can with a Contender.

It only attaches to rib, it has a rubber tipped set screw to eliminate any flexing at the rear over the frame. I have mine screwed down just touching the frame on all of them, but did try one w/o that set screw and it wasn't needed. I just used them for looks and the fact they came with mount.

If needed I can send a picture of of one on 8" shroud off the frame.

Here it is attached to IHMSA 8" barrel.

First is showing the rear set screw to prevent bending the rail I guess.

If you look close on this picture you'll see it doesn't quite touch the lower section of shroud.

And just a general view from the right side

Is this enough to help?

Nice looking 714 SHOOT, but that scope looks a little low and cramped or is it a bad angle.

When it comes to scopes, they can never be too low...  The weigand is just a little bulky... in fact, a DW branded mount would put that scope even lower.
