I plan on pairing up the 8" ported shoud and barrel for collecting and then get another 8" shroud for shooting maybe. But first I want to get either a 4" or 6" B&S for regular shooting.

Let my neighbor shoot my 744 today and he was really impressed with the trigger and the way it shot from a rest, but he could not hit anything from a non rest position due to heavy barrel. He tinks a better choice would be a 6" barrel and I am leaning toward the 4" barrel.

Hey! waldo no problem on the 8″ ported barrel. I bid because I don't have one. I'm just glad someone here got it, that way I know it will be appreciated. I hope the other 8″ barrel and shroud went the same way. Shoot straight!WinkWink

Here is another and will probably cost less.

Here is my (actually my dad's, I'm planning on using it till its mine) model 14 .357(as identified by me). He bought in 1980ish, a few years before I was born, for home protection here in Houston at a local shop. He never takes it out unless something moves too loud at night.

A friend invited me to shot with him the other day so I grabed my dad's DW. I was curious, wanted to know more about it before I went out so I started reading up on it. Found this site and I'm kind getting hooked on it. I enjoyed shooting the DW way more than my buddies Glock 30, too much kick for the little grip and it feels top heavy. The 14 just felt right and with a 38 special it was a joke to shot.

It has what I would say normal to light wear for 30 years. The worst thing is some light rust and scufing in expected spots.

joel- That's not rust and scuffing, it's character and experience. Nice gun, obviously fun to shoot, and that's what they are for.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

"Corrosion Resistant Aficionados"

 Wink Gotcha!!

I like both blued and stainless steel. Kind of a toss up. But the bluing has to be deep enough that it looks like there is no bottom to the lake.

Monson bluing always seems very good, I don't have any real exposure to anything else from DW. I have always thought that the late 70's/early 80's Pythons and Diamondbacks may have Dan Wessons of the same era beat by a little bit, however.

So that's what those two straps are for...to hold an extra barrel! I've only seen the tool strapped in there, so I assumed that was it's intended purpose.

That DW looks prety darn nice, basking in the sunlight.Cool
