Want to get an RH shroud from EWK and mount a red dot sight like a Burris FastFire III or an Aimpoint. Am I correct that I would need to also purchase a weaver/picatinny adapter to mount one of those? Thanks for the info.

Crad, you should be able to mount your red dot directly on the shroud like in the photo above.

Only if you can get a red/green dot that mounts on a 3/8" dovetail with a lug. Also the spacing for the lug is not as wide as a weaver. So the lower screw will ride high.

Now that were on the topic of doing just that, what say you Eric?
There are some inexpensive 3/8" red dot's but they use one of the mounting screws to drop in the space between the dove tails. I have tried it and the screw diameter is to wide for the gap. The solution seems wider gaps or machining the screw diameter down while leaving the head and threads original. @ EWK_Stuff
But for the Burris FastFire III or an Aimpoint the adapter is needed.

It seems alot of people prefer short eye relief for red dots...see pic below of the RH adapter in action. It would be a possibility to make an adapter for the Burris or Aimpoint, but I don't think the demand is there...
