Do the barrel assemblies that CZ sell match the finish of the original DW stainless models? I have a 715 manufactured 1986 I'm tempted to order extra barrel assemblies for. I know the roll stamp/laser etching is different, but how does the finish match up? Also, on CZ's website, the stainless barrels state "uses new shroud". Is this of concern pertaining to my 1986 model 715?

In for the info. I have only bought blued assemblies for my 44V and they are nice pieces.

First, the new designed shrouds are not appropriate with Monson, Palmer or pre CZ receivers IMHO. As far as function goes they are the same.

As far as finish, I have an observation. Monson stainless from 1982 to 1991 is the same brushed finish. The Palmer Era was more variable. Some guns and shrouds were almost bright polished. They will not match Monson, if that matters. The bead blasting of the top rail is smoother too. Norwich guns from the Serva Era are less brushed then Monson  but not as polished as Palmer. Norwich has the First Issue guns, and the regular later production. The First Issue top strap and rail resemble diamond dust. Very nice. Also, the frame pins on the right side of the frame are polished flush with the frame as are Smiths, Manurhins, and Korths. Colts are like Dans, they look like rivets. I think the First Issue small frame guns are the finest small frame Dans made. The shrouds are  numbered to the frame so their are none to be had if you did not buy a pack or extra BAs. The later shrouds did not have that beautiful top rail or the frame the polished frame pins.

When CZ first came out with the new .357s I thought the pics of the shrouds looked more squared than the rounded Monson shrouds.

This is my Monson 715 with a newer CZ barrel assembly (purchased in 2019 from CZ webstore) before the barrel split the frame…barrel tube wasn’t heat treated and split after roughly 2500 rounds.

@ Andrew

Ah yes. Much better fit where the shroud meets the frame.

I deleted my post because I realized that was the same shroud from when my Monson frame split. And it’s now on a new CZ/DW frame. So not really relevant to your original post 😂
