I took my 715 to the range today and after about 8 rounds the trigger stopped returning unless you slightly moved the hammer. It initially only did it on double action, but sometimes on single also. Please tell me what I need to do. If springs are needed please let me know the kind and where I can purchase them. Thanks.

I had the same problem and I was lucky to get good advice from the guys here. Try adjusting your trigger stop screw. It should stop the trigger as soon as the hammer is released. If the trigger goes back too far it can result in the problem you are having. It may take a bit of trial an error but you will get it there eventually. Good luck and let us know if this works.

Another thing to look for- see if backing out your grip screw helps. If the grip screw is in too far it can affect the function of the hammer/trigger. A simple thing to try.

I have discovered that the hang up occurs on the same cylinder each time. I marked the cylinder on the hang up. Each time there is a failure it is on the mark. Help!! Is it a timing problem, trouble with the notch on cylinder?

It appears (from your description) to be a timing problem, possibly from the cylinder and more likely to be on the extractor, which the hand engages to advance the cylinder. If this problem is consistent to the same chamber every time, and there is no visible damage or irregularity to the cylinder, look closely at the extractor for differences in the "star" that the hand engages.

I don't see anything strange with the extractor. I totally disassembled and cleaned and it did not change the problem. Is it possible it is the hand or spring? If so where could you buy the hand?

In your third photo I think I see the extractor leg at the 12:00 position somewhat misaligned. The one immediately preceding is slightly off and the one following is also a bit off. Maybe a bent ejector rod?

Your extractor looks distorted, almost twisted out of shape. As Steve said, could be a bent (twisted?) ejector rod. Take it apart and let us know what you find.

Have to agree, looks like it may be bent but it may be just the way you have it rested on...(your leg?) Disassemble and roll it on a flat surface. Be sure to pad your pliers.

Yes that looks like a possibility. The question is how can it be fixed or where could you acquire an extractor. Also once you have the cylinder out how do you remove the extractor?

The extractor screws onto the ejector rod. Check first for a straight and true ejector rod. Yours could be a little bent and twisted, and that will allow a chamber specific FTF.

Once we figure out what the issue is, you can get parts from DW, or gunbroker, or ebay, or a DWF member. That's not too difficult for a 715.

It appears to be the ejector. The rod is straight. It looks like either what I would call the ejector or the hand that moves the cylinder. So what would be the places I could get those parts? It looks like some of the points that the arm moves the cylinder are misaligned.

The part you are referring to is actually (in DW nomenclature) the extractor, and it is available from DW in Norwich, NY. It is considered by them to be a "gunsmith install" item, it's possible that they wont sell it to you. The extractor and hand need to be fitted to properly time the firing cycle.

You can either send to them or have a local gunsmith order it. I would get both hand and extractor, if it were me. A competent smith may even be able to shape it without new parts...

I agree too, this one needs new parts, that ejector star appears to have been made for another gun entirely. Maybe a trip back to mother DW is best? Or at least a competent smith.

I agree the extractor is damaged or the wrong one (or both). The rear of the cylinder of your 715 is machined differently than my 15-2. Perhaps it is the wrong replacement.
The hammer strut is in the rear position in your photo. Mine is forward when I remove the side plate. How is your spring and plunger?
Can't go wrong with Wolff Springs. Shooters pack #32310.
I had trigger return problems and with help from the DWF cured them.

The cylinder shown in the post above is from an earlier production 15-2 with recessed chambers. The extractor would be the same for later production 15-2 and 715 revolvers.
