I tried installing a new 2.5" barrel in my recessed nut pork shop shroud, it is too long. ?

The pork chop guns used a shorter barrel tube. The pork chops were originally exposed nut style. When they changed to recessed nuts, they kept the same shroud length and shortened the barrel tube. You can get yours cut down to fit in the recessed shroud or try to find an old stock short tube. Do a search, there has been considerable discussion in the past on this issue.
Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

You could also use an additional barrel nut on the exterior of the shroud. I had EWK make me a spacer and a Canada legal 4.25" (106mm) barrel to use with my 4" shroud. Looks okay, shoots better.
