OfflineThat's a nice looking Monson 15-2 shooter. My advice is give her a good clean and send some lead down range.

OfflineBarney, as we affectionately call it is a Plum tint that comes on some frames with a little age. Â
Look atop just below the member photo scrolling pics. can you see the red # indicated there now. I sent you a PM.
I was looking for the forum about Barney, to give you the link.

OfflineUnderstood. I forgot you just said short time ago you were on a phone... I couldn't find the forum board I was looking for on the "Barney" frames. If you look thru the photos,I garantee you will find a pic of one. Read as much as you can on here, you will learn a great deal. Â Some guys don't care so much for the color change, but myself and some others think it's pretty cool. Â Enjoy the journey..

OfflineNot unusual, and is not a problem. Unlike other revolver grips that are held in place with screws thru the sides of the grip, DW grips are held in place with a screw thru the butt of the grip on a long square tang.
Word to the wise upfront: Do not overtighten the grip screw, this will create issues with SA/DA action

OfflineAwesome. Thanks guys. I was kinda worried about the grip being like that. But yeah I agree middlecalf. I love guns with character. I'd much rather have an old gun that looks like it's been used everyday for 50 years (as long as it's still in decent condition of course) than one brand new right off the line made yesterday.Â

OfflineHey Michael - looked a little closer at your gun pic, and there seems to be more gap between the trigger guard and the grip than I'm used to seeing (red circle area in pic). BUT, I'm not an expert on the different DW grips, so I'll defer to one of the other experts, maybe this is not a big deal and normal. Hope someone else can chime in a set this to rest. Anyone?

OfflineI know you would not like to see that gap, there is still no functional problem as long as the grip is steady and solid with no wobble. I would double check that the grip is fully installed on the grip tang with no debris or foreign material at the bottom of the inletting for the grip tang.
