I have a matte nickel finish on a model 15 and it has the -M after the serial number under the crane so I'll go along with Zoomb and say it stands for matte finish.

I don't have a reference on this immediately on hand, but I know (think?) I have seen some earlier DW factory brochures/price lists that offer Armolloy and Bright Nickel as optional finish offerings.

Can you use the non pork chop shrouds on the model 14 or is this model shroud specific?

You need the porkchop, it actually holds the cylinder crane in place (cranes on non-porkchop BA models are held in place by a separate crane lock piece that you access by removing the side plate).

I know you realize this but, a blued BA will work. Nice gun. You could always use a blued one or get it nickeled or chromed. An expert refinisher could tell you which it is.
