New member from Boise, Idaho here.
Hello all and thanks for letting me into this group.

I picked up a Wesson Firearms .357 yesterday and so far, I am quite impressed with it, even though I have not put any rounds through it yet. It's a heavy revolver (which is a good thing).

I have all the usual questions a new owner has. What year is my gun, etc., so I figured this forum would be THE place to start.
Hopefully, I will be able to learn a bit a bit about these firearms and compare notes with y'all at some point. :)
The serial number on my Wesson is B002xxx if anyone could point me in the right direction. I will pour through this forum in search of info before I bombard you all with a ton of questions. It may take a while since there is A LOT of info here!

I will post pics as soon as my camera batteries charge up. Thanks again.

Welcome to DWF, we are looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Is your 15-2 a Monson or Palmer gun?

You might enjoy reading some Dan Wesson History

Hello and thank you. It is a Palmer. Did you determine it to be a 15-2 by  the serial number?

Yes, a "B" Serial Number is a blued gun, a 15-2, as opposed to a stainless gun, which would be a 715.

Pinning down an exact year is a little tough, maybe 1991, no later than 1992

That looks like a fixed barrel gun, is there a removable barrel nut at the muzzle?

Welcome from Sweet (Brownlee)!  I don't see too many DW in these neck of the woods, at least not for sale.  Have fun putting some downrange (out here that's past the "local" sagebrushes big-grin)

Thanks for the welcome, folks. :) No barrel nut, so I am also assuming it's a fixed barrel.

Now for the next newbie question: If I had to claim a value on this gun, what would it cost to replace it?  It doesn't say "Dan Wesson" on the side, just "Wesson Firearms". I am assuming the place of manufacture and the date of manufacture factor in the value. Is this correct?

If your talking for insurable value, I'd probably claim 700-800 or higher.

I find the quality of the Palmer guns to be as good as Monson. The fixed barrels are some what of a finders keepers,  Price varies by area!

Thanks for the info, folks. Also, thanks for the links in the previous replies as I did a bit of reading today.  :)
Are the fixed barrel revolvers hard to come by?

you definitely do not see them so often. I have no idea of the number produced but I don't think it was any quantity.
