Hi everyone, I'm new at this forum and saw some  great information. I'm a pistol action shooter but want to buy a revolver for target shooting. A friend told me that DW is more accurate than S&W. Whats your opinion on this? A local gun shop here offers a nice ctg .357. The grip seems a bit small and in a strange angel to me (see: http://www.topguns.nl/Webwinkel-Product-83377041/Dan-Wesson-CTG-.357-Mag.html). What do you think? Price seems OK.

Best, Sam.

Sam, First off, welcome to the DWF!

For target shooting, Dan Wessons are fully "tunable" by the owner and in my opinion have and edge over all other factory offerings. The DW owner can change grip styles, change barrel lengths and adjust torque, and adjust the cylinder gap at home.  The challenge for our out of CONUS members have is getting parts shipped from stores/companies.  You will most likely need a friend in the US to help with that.

Of course, I'm a bit biased.  I own a few Smiths and they are good shooters but I have a few Dans which I like a bit more.

Welcome to DWF!

That is a very nice looking 715, and the 6" Vent Heavy barrel assembly is perfect for target shooting. The grip shown is more of a concealed carry type grip, the standard "Target" style grip that flares out at the base to fill the hand will be much more suitable.

275 eur. is a great price for that gun.  I'd buy it and then change the grip - maybe you can buy a blank from LB grips and finish it off yourself.

I think you will be very happy with that 715 for target shooting and any other type of shooting. I have one and it is amazingly accurate. Harly is right, that is a very good price. They are very easy to work on. be sure to check out this link.

Welcome to the Forum.

Yup,  almost half price perhaps. You will need a barrel tool if one is not included.

Damn thats cheap!!! Buy it now! You can fettle almost anything in a Dan Wesson. Being from europe like you is kind of hard to find stuff but all the fellows in here are very helpful.

Hi guys,

I went to the shop, fell in love and bought it. What a beauty. And the small grip fits my hand perfect. Now I have two wait two more months for my permit before I can try it. That's the law here.

One more question about the year of production. The serial number is S00172. Is there a way I can check the year of production?

best,

Sam
