Yes, this is a totally original unmolested W12 frame and barrel. The VH shroud is a much later one, and the grip is a powerwood from 1974 ish. The EWK Arms adapter makes this unlikely pairing possible, and adds a bit of interest of its own. The most interesting aspect is the front sight. I recently purchased a set of patridge sights from EWK Arms in .025 increments. I thought that the “next tallest” one would work well, but I was wrong. Eight inches high at 25 yards with the rear sight all the way down. So, I attached the tallest one, and we’ll see what happens next time at the range. I think it will be okay. In the meantime it’s a very cool looking revolver.IMG_2001.jpegImage Enlarger

Looks good!

Eric sent me one of his shroud adapter prototypes for me to test fit onto one of my Porkchops. I wrote back with my thoughts & a few photos of a -2 shroud installed. He did a couple very minor adjustments & the result is what you have there.smile

For those not familiar with the adapter, here’s a few more photos. The thickness of the adapter is the same as the depth of the relief notches of the barrel nut, so you end up with a recessed muzzle.IMG_2003.jpegImage Enlarger

Very good looking. I would put on rubber grips to go shooting. Those Powerwood grips do not wear well and yours looks in great shape.

This powerwood grip unusual, I think. I’ve never seen another one that has this color; and all of the others that I’ve seen seem to have a “finish” that does seem to wear over time. Could the previous owner have stripped the finish off entirely, and this is what is left underneath? The closest examination shows no sign of any finish. The checkering is very sharp, but not enough to bite. I don’t see it changing no matter how much it’s used, and I really like the contour and feel of it.

They are plastic.  Whatever you do, don't sand one, the wood look goes away really fast.

So the adapter allows regular shrouds on a pork chop frame?

Yes. EWK Arms has made them in the past, but I’m unsure if he is still making them. I bought this one about 5 years ago.

That W12 is sure a beauty!  I have an ol' D11, but it's definitely not "original unmolested"!

I've got several pork chops - the D11, a couple of M14's and a couple M15's.  The adapter is a very interesting twist, though I don't think I'd ever have a need for one.

Thanks for posting! cool-pics

Well, I can’t say that I actually ever had a “need” for the EWK shroud adapter, but it has been fun making use of it. When I purchased my very first well used DW 15-2 it came with two barrel assemblies. Two pork chops later, I realized that I will always have an extra ba left over, and that just invites experimentation. I think I may have purchased the very last adapter left in EWK Arms inventory at that time. I can’t say if any more will ever be made again as there’s probably not enough interest to make even a small run of them.

The shroud adapter is great for scoping a pork chop. A 6 or 8" V barrel assembly is better than a D x T on a pork chop shroud.
