OfflineThe first Dan Wesson, the models 11+12 and their successors , models 14+15 had flanges at the bases of the shrouds that fit on a nipple on the reciever next to the crane. The shroud looked like a porkchop bone. In early 1976 I believe, the model  15-2 was introduced with the redesigned shroud we are familar with. With each model introduction various other changes were made. Improvement were also made at various times without changing the model. One big difference between the porkchop and the 15-2 was that when you removed the shroud of a porkchop, the crane and cylinder could be pulled right off, a nice feature.
