I took out the crane lock from my 741 and the angled edge of the lock towards
the cylinder is worn. There is a ridge on it where its been worn.
 Do I need a new one or do I just file the ridge down?Â
There is also some back and forth movement in the crane. I will search the forum to see if there is a way to tighten up the crane. Is there a way?

Are you talking about what seems to be an angled groove on the right corner, facing directly at the camera lens? If so, I wouldn't worry about it...that part doesn't engage the slot in the frame as much as the wider straight part does.

Would replacing the crane lock with a thicker crane lock or put a shim in with the crane lock help take up the slop in the crane?

DW said " 006" is too much endshake. Likely you need a new crane lock and maybe an end shake shim?"
I will send it to DW for service.
The mark in the crane lock was not damage. It scraped off. Don't know what it.
