Just got my Dan 357 back fixed, and the barrel needs to be tightened.  I have the wrench and spacer, but never had the barrel off before.  So what's the proper fit between the wheel and barrel–tight, loose, easy slide, some what tight slide?  Can anybody help?

Just like using feeler gauges on anything else--should just have a very light tension on the gauge.  It shouldn't fall out, and it shouldn't have to be tugged out either.  I set mine on the tighter end, but I keep mine clean.

I think it's funny when I see some auction pics that show the feeler gauge looking all U-shaped...like they had been tugging on it really hard at some point.lol2

Always worthwhile to test fit the gauge all the way around the cylinder to make sure you have a flat cylinder face, there can be some irregularities from chamber to chamber sometimes.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
