Hello everyone from the land of guns and cheese (Wisconsin)!

At the gun show this past weekend, I took a trade on a Dan Wesson .357 for a piece of 9mm plastic.  I love .357s and I thought this'd be a great chance to have a Dan Wesson.  After trying to educate myself, I am kind of lost as far as trying to ID this revolver.  Here is what I can figure out:

Serial # 357S006015

Palmer gun

Stainless Steel

5" fixed barrel measured from forcing cone to end of barrel

barrel is ported at ~the 2:30 and 9:30 positions.

Any idea what this is and more info on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!IMG_7148.jpgImage Enlarger

Looks like a 715 fixed barrel.  I've never seen one ported that way from the factory so I suspect it was done by a previous owner.  I think you got the better end of the trade.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Thank you.  Is the 5" common?  When I was looking at the 715s, it seemed 6" was the most common with a few 4" ones.

Most fixed barrels were odd numbered lengths.  I think there were a few 4 inch and a few 6 inch also.

Thank you everyone.  Can't wait to get it to the range and see how it shoots.

Welcome from PA and it looks like you got a nice deal on the trade.  I have one fixed barrel Dan and it shoots very well.  Added bonus with the MagnaPort job.
