Howdy folks. I'm new to the forum and new to Dan Wesson's although I've spent a good 30 years wanting one.

My question is this, has anyone milled off a non-adjustable rear sight and replaced it with an adjustable sight?

My youngest son is a top notch machinist so the how isn't a problem. I'm just wanting to know if anyone had done it before and what, if any issues they may have ran into.

Thanks in advance,

Mike

Not that I've seen. If you have the sight on hand, and maybe a Model 15-2/715 as a template, it seems like a good machinist should be able to do that for you. Finding a DW sight is tough, however.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I believe I recall seeing a model 14 with a dovetail milled and a millet installed on here somewhere. Looked a little awkward but should work. I have no clue though how to find the post if I do remember correctly. I see no reason it could not be done just be sure it's what you want as there is not much way to turn back once done. If you do it, we would love to see it.

Just pick up a 15-2 and save the 14 for fun and carry!  then you have twins and your son can shoot one as you do!  you would have to get front sites to work also!

I've always dreamed of going the other way with a 715 - coming up with a screw-on sight much like a 1911 low combat sight that would replace the adjustable sight.  Something that fits into the adjustable sight mounting recess and would lay low on or behind the frame clear of the hammer and allow a much cleaner draw from concealment without catching that adjustable sight leaf.

Still trying to make shoulder holsters work...
