Finally got back to the range with my 15-2. I have had problems before when the cylinder got stuck or locked up.  When it happened this time I found slivers of jacket material stuck between the barrel and cylinder. Does this sound like  a timing problem? I'm thinking it probably needs to go in for service.

You may be right, it may need to go in for a tune-up. That sounds like the cylinder is out of time to me. Wait for some other opinions to chime in on this, though...because I'm surely not the "be all/end all" in the revolver knowledge department.Embarassed lol2 I've got a fairly loose cylinder on this high mileage 15-2 & it does tend to spit now & then, but I have yet to have it lock up due to jacket shavings.

I just got this gun and it is my first revolver so I'm learning as I go, but yea I think I am setting the gap right. Looked down the barrel this morning with a flashlight and could see part of the edge of cylinder. Called the gunsmith where I bought it and he  said better bring it in. I did, he took it in the back to check it and said it was indeed off time a little bit. Good news is it's covered under there used gun warranty. So if he can't fix it himself he will send it into Dan Wesson. Also offered to take care of the end shake while he was working on it.  Kinda seems like I bought someone elses lemon. Probably why it appears to have not seen much use. Seems as those its gonna be a nice piece once I get all the the issues straightened out. I'll let you know.

Well that sounds like good news. And both issue's are correctable. So you should have a fine D/W when all is said and done..

The last one I sent in took about 3-1/2 weeks.  15-2 for ejector/extractor replacement, timing.

Shoots great now!

Where was your gun made?  Monson or Palmer? And welcome the DWAS.  Once fixed you should have a fine shooting revolver.Post Pics

It's a Monson gun,  357 15-2 has two barrels an 8" and a 2 1/2", didn't appear to have been shot much. I had a number of problems with it right from the get go. I posted some of them here somewhere's along with a picture about a month ago .

Finally got her back. It's been 7 or 8 weeks since I took her back to Gander Mountain. With out opening things up I see a new cylinder, extractor, and hand. Cylinder wiggle is noticably less and there is just a hint of end shake when you pull back against the ball. Went to the range fired about fifty rounds. The action feels much smoother and accuracy was improving the more I shot. Hats off to Dan Wesson CZ service for a fine job, and to Gander Mountain for standing behind their Gunsmith guaranteed used firearms. Oh yea almost forgot to mention GM picked up the tab, no charge to me.Smile
