Hey Guys,

I just picked up a 744, but I am have a hard time getting it apart. I have the shroud and barrel off, and I have removed the one hex screw and push pin by the hammer. lol Now what do I do? I have read the manual lol but I guess I'm not smart enough to get any further.

Thx for the help

Pull your grip off. There's a spring loaded "latch" that locks the trigger housing against the grip post. Push that in & the trigger housing should pull downward.

I haven't actually pulled mine apart yet, but I've studied it & am pretty sure that's how it comes apart.Smile

The allen screw from the side is to lock the hammer spring back, by screwing it into the grip stud. This takes the spring tension off the hammer. Then the spring latch behind the trigger guard allows the trigger mech to be pulled out. Pay close attention here. It comes out very easy but is real tricky to get back in correctly. Completely doable but you need 3 hands with 18 very small fingers to get every thing back in place. OK maybe not 18 fingers but it is tricky. The owners manual has instructions to dissassemble and if you don't have one look in FAQs to the right. good luck.

Pay special attention to the hand, as it needs to go into the slot below the face of the hammer, it tends to go either below or above the slot, thus the need for the 3rd person hand to guide it, while holding both the trigger group and the frame.  Good luck, I ended up breaking the spring tab on the transfer bar and getting a new one from DW/CZ, but was able to get it together with the new bar.
