Excuse me if I have the nomenclature incorrect, but the swing out arm, that's the Crane, right ?

Now, on a 744 that I saw last week, there seems to be a large qty or very small holes, like it was made that way. They were on the rounded surface, and the flat angled surface just above it towards the opening-latch.

Seems like it wouldn't affect operation or reliability at all.

Just wondering if this was common (or too common) on some 744's in the past...

How do I include an image ?IMG_1266.JPGImage Enlarger

TIA

...and on the small part of  the frame just underneath it seems also.

I have no definitive answer. Those with more knowledge will be along shortly.

Looks like corrosion pitting from here.  Either that or air bubbles in the casting.

Anything worth doing is worth doing well.

IMO that pitting isn't going to affect the integrity of the crane.  Most likely a piece that wasn't finished well or had a bad cast, as Scorpio stated.

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

It's actually kind of nice - like a woman with freckles.
