You may have seen this on eBay. Giant lot of 11 S&W grips and one lonely Dan Wesson Grip. I could tell it was something special I thought it was a LB but could not be sure but I plunked down the $450 for the lot. I was blown away the craftsmanship he put into this grip. It's do nice I wonder what he charged for a Zebra with medallions back when he was doing them. Anyway got the grip on Monday, I turned around and sold the 11 S&W grips today for $440 so almost got the grip for free. You other older members who had the pleasure of buying grips from him I am envious! Here is a pic of the grip and the lot I flipped in 2 days. I may have made more by selling them on at a time but I know nothing about S&W grips of models. Sure wish LB was still making them!IMG_6320-1.JPGImage Enlarger

LB made some mighty fine grips that is for sure.  I had him make me four, an LB Special grip large frame made of Rosewood with the Dan Wesson Medallion inserts $75.00,  two Gripper grips made of Black and White Ebony one large frame and one small frame $75.00 each, and one Thumb Rest Grip made out of Koa Wood large frame $175.00.  The prices I mentioned were with me supplying the wood blanks.  I have some Burl Wood blanks that I wanted made into grips but unfortunately, it appears he no longer is making them.  I have some mighty fine wood blanks though.  I sure wish he would make a few more.

Black and White Ebony Gripper

Thanks, Kurt I wish LB had made a few more for me with the blanks I purchased.  He did such a nice job.

I’m gonna retire end of this year and I’ve been wondering what kind of investment it takes to be able to make Dan Wesson one-piece wood grips.   What kind of machinery do I need to buy?  Hopefully it’s not a completely manual process.  Anybody know what kind of machine?  Is it a CNC type deal?

Also, I’m thinking about buying machinery to create barrel assemblies.  Now that nobody is making BAs for DWs anymore, it might be worthwhile?  No idea what kind of machinery is required.

I wouldn’t need to make a living doing it, just like to recover my investment over a reasonable period of time.

I bid 275 on the ebony grip when it was 195. It went for 280 but no telling how high the actual bid was. I am a master at underbidding. If I win, it is a deal. I don't win much anymore. The craziest bid I have seen was 165 for the undercover grip the other day. I once bid $36 on a California walnut burl DW grip but I pressed $360 by accident. I was surprised it ended up selling for $600.
