Hello,
I just did a deep cleaning of my model 15 and then took it to the range. After putting about 40 round through it I was unable to cock the hammer to put it in single action. I can pull the trigger and double action works just fine.
I pulled the plate back off the frame and I'm trying to figure out what gives.
I freely admit to being a newbie with revolvers.
What part of the mechanism is supposed to keep the hammer cocked?

It can be as simple as having the grip screw too far in. Assemble the gun and check the action without a grip installed to check for this issue. Read " grip screw function" towards the top of forum topics to explain Good luck

It does look like it's a problem between the main spring and the hammer assembly. Removing the main spring allows me to cock it. I coincidentally have Wolf springs arriving tomorrow. Will see if that fixes it...

I had a similar issue once and it turned out that the Aligning Screw had backed itself out a bit, then a bit more, then eventually fell out. If it isn't the grip screw, pull the side plate and have a look.

It was the main spring seat. When I was changing grips the seat got screwed in deeper.
My take away is that when I change grips I need to unload the revolver and have the hammer cocked. That should stop the seat from moving...

Adjust the mainspring seat to the best position and use Loctite to keep it there.

The mainspring seat usually has about 1 to 1 1/2 threads showing. Agree with Snake-eye to use red loctite or use a punch and peen it in place. Glad the problem is resolved for you.
