I was just wondering if a model 14 shroud would work on a model 15 frame? I just purchased an M14 that has a 2 1/2, 4 and a 6-inch barrel and it would be great if it would also fit on my model 15. I know that the front sights are different (and probably pinned to the shroud) but will the barrels screw into the frame and will the adjustable sights compensate for the difference in height? It'd be great if they would interchange and allow me to get double the fun. dwas

Assuming that you're talking 15-2 (&14-2) here, as opposed to the earlier Porkchop models, then yes...the shrouds will interchange. However, because of the lower front sight on the 14-2, you will need to contact EWK arms (info at the right of this screen) for custom front sights, if you plan on using a 15-2 shroud on your 14-2 frame, to retain an optimum POA.

That was what I was hoping for. Yes, they are the later versions, no porkchops and, I've already got a shopping cart full of goodies from EWK! THANKS!   big-grin

Careful--you guys are going the wrong way...

If you want to put 14 shrouds on a 15 frame, you will need to drill out the front sights as they are pinned in place.  You will also have to drill a hole in a 15 sight blade to fit it.

Now if you want to put 15 barrels on a 14 frame ... EWK makes a nice quick conversion blade.

That's what I was curious of, whether the adjustable sights on the 15 frame were "adjustable" enough to compensate for the lower sights. So, are we certain that to use a 14's shroud on a 15 frame, the 14 sights will need to be removed in place of the taller 15s? Has anyone already done this. From what I had read up till now, as you have said SHOOT, that EWK has the sights to compensate for the difference if you're putting 15 SHROUDS on a 14 FRAME. I was wondering if the need for the new sights was because the 14's rear sight was NOT adjustable, like the model 15's.

Either way, I'll be getting the 14 next week and, I can take it to the range and find out pretty quickly if the 15's sights can be adjusted to get them into spec for the 14's front sight. My intent, was that once I had a chance to see exactly where we're at with respect to barrels, shrouds and sights, then I was going to order the necessary sights from EWK. I know he has the shorter ones for the 15 on a 14 frame and there's a few optic options that I'd like to have for a few other shrouds.

If SHOOT, or anyone, knows for certain that the 14 shroud on a 15 frame will definitely need a new sight, I'm open to learn; I just don't know. That's why I asked. If not, maybe we'll find that out definitively once I've had a chance to clean, change, shoot and adjust my newly acquired goodies. In the end, if they DON'T work, I've still got a perfectly good 14 frame to use them on. big-grin

Thanks!

I would shoot it and see were she hits before I'd change anything.

Might just hit POA with your load and aim.
