Local dealer is driving me crazy, they just got in an ad hoc pistol pack Model 715 Monson good but used condition (pristine other than a fairly prounounced drag line) with 2" 6" and 8" barrels. No case, but with tools.
They want $795 (plus tax) which works out to a realized price of about $842. Its a little hefty I dont need it but part of me wants to put it on layaway.
Talk me out of it guys!

Well, you can look at it this way…
A gun wearing a 6″ barrel in about that shape would probably bring $400~ish on GB. The 8″ barrel assy. would probably bring $185~ish. The 2″ would bring $120~ish.
Total; $705 ~ish, but could go a little higher. So I guess if you could talk him down $50 or so, it would be more inline with typical prices.
*EDIT* Wait a sec, I was thinking this was a blued gun for some reason...oops! 😛
Well, add probably at leat $100 to my overall guess, possibly closer to $200. This makes it a better sounding deal already. 😀

Ya its not bad but not great, the up side is this dealer does layaway and I could put a C note down and let it sit a while. I have been a good customer!
However it is a .357 and I really dont need another one (what I need is a .44 patience patience)

Less than a year ago I paid $550 for a 2/4/6 VH 715, it was a great deal, AND exactly what I wanted. Yours is a pretty good deal, you might eventually be able to use it for a .44 trade with someone.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

We will have to see, right now I am bidding on two super mags and a really low-ball Model 14. Hoping one of the supermags will come out (as opposed to buying a .44)
If nothing pans out I may go put a "C" note down and have them hold it for me.

I am out on one of the supermags and just at my max on the Model 14. Thinking of putting this "extra" Dan on layaway. What I need to dicpher is if the barrels came with the set (my other PP came with the Serial number marked box). Anyway I can tell?
Plus curious why there is only a 2" 6" and 8" No 4"

Probably no way to tell. Mine came with the box marked as a 6VH, and had two additional barrels in boxes. My guess is yours started out as a 6, and the owner added the barrels he wanted
I just put another 15 on layaway. I don't really need it, and it took me a couple days to decide to get it. The only reason I can give for buying another one is that it felt like the right thing to do.

Probably not an original Pack, why not?
FYI-a Pack Breaker on GB is getting ready to turn over 4 blue barrel/shrouds (2/4/6/8 V) for $800.
I'm going to sell off an 8VH that I don't want to offset the cost of the 15 4VH that I want to keep

Its hard to tell no 4" (didnt all packs have 2 or 4 barrels in the Model 15s?), no case, but complete tools.
Given I am falling on my face on auctions for .44s and supermags I am thinking of putting a deposit on it.

Based on my understanding you could order a pistol pack in any configuration you would like... at least for a time.

Its definately separate components the boxes for the barrel were in the back of the case under the padding.
A second look revealed that while the overall stainless was good the front sight and rear sight had the finish worn off (holster wear). Anyone know of where I can get replacements or have them parked (guess i could just cold blue them).
I decided to consol myself on missing out on several supermags and .44s and put it on layaway.
It will make a good shooter (since my other pistol is fairly pristine).
