I had to go out of town this weekend for some unpleasant duties (about two hours away) but the up side is there is a good local gun store in this town. I managed to sneak buy for a short visit and as always went straight to the previously enjoyed case to look for orphan Dan’s. I see a large frame gun and ask to see it. The clerk hands me a 44VH8. A quick look shows it had been road hard and put away wet too many times so I ask if he has any other Dan’s. I get the” look” (like why) anyway he looks around and says no. So as I wrangle my 6 year old constantly chanting “I want a pistol” I see a familiar looking grip butt on the bottom shelf peeking out from behind a box. I ask to see it and the clerk (maybe 22 YO) retrieves it and says “It’s only a 22” and hands it to me. I look her over and quickly determine that it is mint. Hardly a blemish and I am not sure if it was ever fired or not. I take a deep breath and look at the price tag. $365.00. I ask the clerk what’s the best he could do since it’s only a 22 and he says I’ll be right back.  He comes back with $350 OTD. Since y’all know the rest of the story here are the required pics.

As I was leaving the store my son was chanting “Daddy buy me a gun” I winked at the clerk and whispered little does he know I just did.

I'll do some better pics later, afterall it is Monday.

OMG-"It's only a .22"?

Nice gun, nice price. Now if you can only find a decent set of grips for it poke

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

They were asking $359.00 for the 44. It was a little worse for wear but would make a good shooter with a little TLC. I was considering giving a offer but got distracted.wink

That's a great pick up L.B. There has to be a little sunshine with the rain.

I just happen to walk into a gun store about 3 weeks ago out of town. I found a Ruger Blackhawk New Model SA 357 mag. 6.5 inch barrel. I couldn't resist it at 250 including tax. I wish it had been a DW, but I love the Rugers too and others. With the economy the way it is we will all be shooting .22s. LOL!

As promised, a better pic.

This will be my first standard (non vented) shroud, so now I have another line of shrouds to seek out.

Nice new pic.  You really got a deal on that one LB. I found a .41 cal.  DW 15-2. with a 6 inch barrel. It was real rough looking, but fairly tight. I couldn't get the guy to come down to my price at the Pawn shop. I really like the .41 cal. too.

The non-vented shrouds sure seem to be a lot less common than the vented flavors, so that's another cool plus to that nice deal you got.laugh

Other than my fixed barrel guns, I don't have any non-vented shrouds. I hope to land a non-vented 15-2 PP one day.
