Guys (again not something I really am interested in) check out this high standard they claim to be made by Dan Wesson. Everything looks Wesson and the cylinder machining looks like a Palmer.
Did Dan Wesson make a lot of guns on behalf of other marques

Yes Dan Wesson produced some guns for High Standard. There is a fair amount of talk about it here on the ole DWF. I don't have a link but poke around and it is here.

The link above is for the Dan Wesson \ High Standard discussion that went on back in May. One of our members John Stimson a High Standard collector provided some good information on production numbers and some background between DW and HS.

I put a lowball in to see what happens at a price I would take it.

Yep, it looks like it's had some holster time, but there's nothing wrong with a gun that's got some history to it. I bet that one can be had relatively cheaply because of the “patina”, I hope you get it.
The tie-in with Dan Wesson's is the main reason I wanted to get one, too. And holding it in your hand, you can tell it's every bit as good as a DW.
Should be a great shooter for you.

Well see, not near as sharp as yours though I bet it cleans up. Ill take it at the right price (though not much more than it is now).
