I was given this gun and need help identifying it.  It is rusted bad and will be redone soon. 15779895447784544999292550560360.jpgImage Enlarger

Well first welcome to the DWF, Looks like you have some work to do. What you have appears to be a model 15-2V4.

Welcome, keep us posted on the project. Looks like when it got squirreled away in a very damp place, it was in good shape. What's the story of that gun? Looks like it might have been stored in a leather holster. I hope you can get the barrel off. Good luck

Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

Nice 15-2, but it will take the skills of a knowledgable gunsmith to bring it back to a useable and halfway aesthetic condition. The fact that it was given to you helps, but a full restoration will likely be expensive. Can't see the innards, but I suspect they could be as rusted as the exterior. You might get it to a functional condition by following rwsem's advice: soak it for at least a week in Automatic Transmission Fluid. Good luck, and welcome to the DWF!

On the bright side: you won't have to worry about putting a scratch on it.

Good luck with your project.

Definitely a fishing tackle box gun. Once you get it working.

Looks like a good candidate for reverse electrolysis, might do a better job than an ATF bath.

Thanks for the info.  I do have a gunsmith to redo it.  He charges $135 for revolvers.  Hew has done 3 long guns already that were way worse.

They had it in a blanket in the basement.  I am assuming for a long time.  When they moved they found it. The blue is in good shape where there is no rust.

Here is the work that my gunsmith did on these.   $150 each.  Worked all the pits, sanded stocks and refinished them,  reblued barrels.

If you're going to drink, don't drive. Don't even putt.
