I came across my first.  A nice gun with an 8" attached and a like-new spare 2.5" barrel.  Jst asking because I've never run across one before in this frame.

Oh, and yes I did buy it...so now I have two .44 D.W.s  Wa-Hoo!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Very rare.  I think that there were no 2.5" barrels from the factory originally offered for the large frame guns, .41 on up.

I think that barrel has to have been a special order item.

If I'm wrong someone will correct me shortly.

Normally the fixed barrel guns have a barrel length of 3".  Seems like I have read of someone having one in the past. I would certainly have been a special order item.

I would be interested in seeing pictures as well.  I am curious to see how short the ejection rod is.  Also the slot for the ejection rod in that 2.5" shroud.  The spec. overall length of .44 mag is within a few thousands of .357 mag, so the ejection rod probably didn't need to be trimmed for the 2.5" setup.  Interesting to see though.

Thanks for the feedback…I thought the barrel length was odd.  The gun is a Palmer unit, with box (if you want to call the "later" boxes, boxes)…

It appears unfired.   Clean as a pin (like new) with a BLUE finish and I will post pics (detailed and very close-up) as soon as possible.  I am fired up!!  Now with a pair of D.W. .44 Magnums!!....I'm hummin' Merry Christmas to me!

OK guys...I will get my eyes examined....it's not a 2.5"...it's a spare 4" barrel.  Sorry to get everyone all excited.  I took the word of the seller, not my own eyes.  But the gun and stocks are in such great condition (spare barrel too) I decided to keep the gun....I do not see to many LNIB .44 D.W.s out there for less than six bills OTD.

I'll post pics later in the week.  Again, sorry for my confusion.

But I'm still REAL happy to find this gun!

Bummer on it not being a 2.5! Frown

Yes could cut it down, (assuing VH) but reworking an original shroud…I don't know if that would be a good idea. I'm going all out to get the .357/Small frame BA's finished, and believe me, after that and I hopefully have some more $$$ to outlay I'm ordering the additional tooling for large frame BA's the 2.5's will be first ones! I want to try one on my .44! lol2

DWA, Wow, thanks for asking that! Answer, the biggest one is patience! And of course orders to finance things doesn't hurt. Laugh

I would like to try a 2.5" BA on my model 40/.357 SuperMag.  Hoo wee, imagine the muzzle blast; would probably need one of EWK's comp nuts to go with it…Mini Gun
