OfflineRecently I spoke with a friend and we were talking in relationship to our revolvers. Me being a DW fan I was advocating to the versatility of the DWs and he brought Smith and Wesson into the mix since he owns 6 of them. We spoke about the history and the link between both brands.
ÂÂ
He asked me a question that trully stomped me, "What frame is your DW?"
ÂÂ
I know Smith and Wesson have verying frame styles, and from what I gather, DW have two, the small and large frame.
ÂÂ
Ive never put any thought into what my frame is since I only own my .357mag 715.
ÂÂ
The picture below is the original DW I received. The grip and barrel have since changed but I figured the picture with original parts will be easier to identify.
ÂÂ
ÂÂ
Thanks for the help.
ÂÂ
Sincerely,
ÂÂ
Rod

OfflineYours is a small frame. Small frames use a removable side plate, calibers range from .357 Mag on down to the .22 LR.
Large frames don't have a removable side plate. SuperMag frames are also large frames, just a stretched version to accomodate the longer cylinder.
Take a stroll through the "DWF Pictures" area, about halfway down the main forum page. That may help you get familiar with the various DW's.

*EDIT* Dang, Blacktop beat me to it. I type slow.ÂÂ
