A Dan Wesson dedicated Forum-GREAT. I still have my first ever pistol, 30+ year old Model 15-2. A fair number of pistols have come and gone, but the Dan Wesson has remained constant. I just stumbled across a 2-1/2" barrel at a good price, and the most recent addition to my collection was a DW PM-7 1911. Thanks for getting this started.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Welcome to the forum Steve,

I've been thinking about one of the new CBOB's as my first 1911.  How do you like the PM-7?

My Pointman was purchased used, and had a few minor functional issues, pretty much fully resolved with a good cleaning. I have a lingering problem with magazine insertion of my non PM7 magazines due to a slightly bent trigger bow and a magazine release that needs some tuning. All that having been said, I love a pistol that will absolutely drill out the bullseye at fifty feet. The PM7 is my second 1911, and although I like my Taurus PT 1911, the PM 7 is like a rock. Rack the slide and it's like a bank vault closing. Ever slam the door on a Hyundai, and then a Mercedes? I would much rather work on minor funtional issues, than try to make it more accurate. A poster on another forum pointed out that my Pointman Major had possibly been set up for competition, and that I should change out the springs as well-a good idea. My local gunshop has a new catalogue that shows a Gov' Model in SS with a fiber optic front sight, available in .45 and 10 mm.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I'm heading up to Chantilly, VA next month to the Nation's Gun Show.  Maybe I can find a good deal on one.

A 357 pistol pak was my first hand gun purchase when I first turned 21 back in 1978. One of the best gun choices I ever made. Carried it more than any other hand gun I own. Backpacked the Appalachian trail (4 inch) Hunted Deer (8 & 6 inch), Qualified for my first ccw (2 inch). What versatile weapon.
