Hello members.
I have a question regarding front sights on the model 15 .
Do the insert colors correspond to a particular shroud model? I have a 15 - 2H and 6H with Red inserts. I occasionally see on e bay for sale the 4 inch H but with a white or yellow insert. Is this just color preference or does it relate to where the barrel / shroud assembly originates or height difference?

The sights are interchangeable. In addition to the original colors Dan Wesson Arms over there ======> offers up some new colors.

I have never seen any indication that the colors were matched to any barrel length, shroud type or caliber. I think the pacs came generally with a red insert in each shroud (4) and 2 extras each in white and yellow. Some other types of front sight styles were available and certain models came with a patridge style, which is black with no insert. Plain black without inserts was also available and different heights could be ordered.
So, mix & match to suit your desire!

Nope, no matching of front sight insert color to length or style. There have been specialized front sights of varying height, insert color, fiber optic and style (ie, Patridge) available for purchase both from DW and aftermarket suppliers.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
