So I have NO willpower. I'm in the local Funshop (my Dan Wesson Happy Place) where I have learned to look on the floor behind the main counter, where the new stuff is, and

Image Enlarger

"Can I see that please?" It's a pretty cruddy, and has some character marks. The trigger does not reset in DA or SA once in about every 8-10 pulls. It has the straight "broomhandle" grip that I hate, but still I ask "How much?" as I am mentally reviewing the balance in my Gun Money account. I get the price (you need to wait for it Surprised) and ask, that's Nickel, right? The shop owner replies, "no Stainless, I think. Came in last night and I haven't even booked it in yet". Needless to say this has a new home now, and on the paperwork I got it's listed as a Model 714.

So I get her home and start comparing to other DW's and come to the conclusion that since the connector is blue (just like all my 15-2's) and not stainless ( like my 715's, 722 and 744), it's a 14-2 that got redone in Bright Nickel, and we know how easily I get distracted by shiny things.

Oh, by the way, $239.

I'm throwing this in for the January Buy of the Month

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Nice catch Steve, what makes you think it is not factory nickel?

It never occurred to me that there might be factory Nickel in a 14. I will say that some preliminary clean up reveals some flaws in the metal that look to have been plated over. Theres a couple of dings, and some rough surface under a little bit of the finish that looks like someone did a clean up and refinish on this pistol. The pin on the front sight is "nickeled over" on one side of the shroud, not the other. Not the quality of my own Nickel project, but that one was in excellent condition to begin with. At arms length you can't see any of the character marks, and this makes me a Double Nickel collector now Laugh

Great GTDW Steve.  I don't own a 14 yet, but the fever is starting to catch, just need my local shop to land a bargain like that one.

I wish I could find one of those grips cheap just to see how they feel in the hand. Range Time

Actually, feels pretty nice, I just hate the look of it.
