Hello  all,

Just made it back from the gun range with my Dan wearing it's 8" heavy shroud.I only shot at the 7 yard stand for my this trip. I used mostly 38s but also shot off a few 357s. Wow now that was fun! Considering my newness to the sport, I think I did great. My first shot was just outside of the bullseye.I had a nice group with mostly a 3.5 inch pattern. (don't laugh it's only my fourth time shooting!) My neighbors on that end of the range all complimented me on the Dan - everyone was asking about it. I now know for sure I made the right choice in going for a Danlaugh

I do have a bit of a problem with every five or six rounds not firing. I can see where the firing pin is not striking the cap or anything on the base of the round. Is this because of the connector hanging up possibly? The hammer strikes when the trigger is pulled but no ignition.

I continue to struggle with my .22 barrel problem but I will save that for a later time. I  have an issue with the action on that gun as well. I reassembled it and wanted to shoot it today, but the trigger dose not return fully. I must have a spring out of place or something. The gun did the same thing before I took it apart and I figured it just needed the average Joe treatment. Any ideas what to look for?...dwf-sign

Thanks all.

Jeff

Does it only do this in double action or in single & double action?

Hi Mister Callan,

I did check that out whilst shooting, and although it seems to mostly affect the revolver in single action, it also occurs in double action, just not as frequently.

In reference to the 22 , it has the trigger not return every time.

Thank you for responding, I was beginning to feel like well, you know...cry

I was thinking I had a similar problem, but mine only does it in double action!

The usual suggestions on here are to check the grip nut isn't fouling the spring. If it is back off a little & add washers.

Do a complete strip & clean, including removing the sideplate & pulling the crane.

Get a replacement mainspring from  either Wolf, or EWK.

Check & clean the firing pin & it's tunnel in the frame.

Hey MC,

That makes perfect sense, Thanks for the tip worshipI have enough time this eve and so I will pop that baby apart! Just was needin' some kind of starting point.

I will compare the innards also to the 22 to see if I can spot something out of place. I have noticed the hammer is just a bit different with the opening in the hammer for the trigger return spring. Perhaps the long end of the return spring is out of place.

I'll let you know how this goes.

I am going to start a new topic with a more pertinent heading on the 22.I hope no one minds. I am not trying to hogg the forum, I just have this little dan wesson condition thing. The bolt and the trigger are not meshing well. The trigger hangs up just before the notches engage, thus jamming the trigger at the halfway back position.I will put pics.

I have the sideplate off on the 15 and will clean and check the firing pin and tunnel as otherwise this gun is pretty clean inside. I'm pretty confident this should solve the missfire issue.dwf-sign Thanks for the advice MC,

Jeff
