automotive guage will work just fine as long as it is that thickness or so. I wouldn't fret using a .005 or a .007. Just adjust for a "tight" .007 or loose .005 type deal. After a while I can pretty much wing it anyway, though I seldom do.
It maybe that Eric ( ewk_stuff) can put you something together as well.

You can just use an automotive feeler gauge set, and the gap can be as tight as .002" measured on the tightest chamber. Cylinder faces on DW revolvers are no neccessarily square, so this dimension can vary from chamber to chamber.
