I noticed the other day that was presented with a Dan Wesson Model 15-2 that it was hard to get the cylinder out after pressing down the cylinder latch.   Is there a special trick, tip or procedure to open the cylinder?  It was bit stuck and stubborn to open.

I have had S&Ws and Colts and the latches usually open the cylinder smoothly.   This is somehow awkward and hard if you want to open the cylinder for reloading in a rush.

I spoke with my brother who owned a DW and he said that the reason why it is difficult is that the spring used with the latch is too strong.  He added that once you get to know the gun you can master the cylinder opening.

I have had the ejector rod unscrew slightly, and cause some binding on the entire cylinder assembly, but i may be misunderstanding your problem. Are you saying that the latch is hard to push, or the cylinder won't swing out freely?

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

The latch moves down but the cylinder will not move out.   I read somewhere in the web that this was an issue with some shooters.   I do not own the gun, yet.   I made a proposal to purchase but this issue is still running around my head.

It could be, though ...what you are saying that the ejector rod may be slightly unscrew and the assembly is binding a bit.   Did not check the ejector rod.

What I have seen happen is that if the ejector rod at the front of the cylinder is loose, the ejector "star" (not sure of the correct terminology) can start to lock up at the rear of the cylinder/frame interface.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

So it would a matter of just tightening the ejector rod along with the "star" of the cylinder?   I will check out this if I finalize the DW purchase.

Thanks

A little blue Loctite and firmly tightened, and it's never happened again

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.
