New to the forum but I am a DW fan of over 30yrs with a pristine 1979 15-2.

I know that .006 is the spec for cylinder gap but is there a spec for the barrel nut torque?

I shoot only lead. Mostly target loads DEWC and LSWC.

What would the benefits/drawbacks be with setting the cylinder gap to .005?

Seriously considering that slabside barrel assembly from EWK with
fiber optic sites but my 6" Vent-Heavy barrel is a really nice shooter. Also thinking about just getting a faster twist barrel to shoot heavies.

The smaller gap shouldn't be a problem I have seen some put it down to .002, just be sure and rotate, not all cylinders are true. as far as tourque the barrel nut, I haven't seen anything on that just hand tight!

Oh so you know we LOVE pictures so show us your stuff!   EWK has some great stuff the FO sights are great and the new barrels, tools and such all are wonderful!

Welcome to this place!       If you don't have one grab a calandar before they are all gone!

Welcome to the site!

I can't answer your questions any better thatn they already have been. I do have the EWK slab barrel plus several other "fast twist" barrels, and while I have no formal evidence to thier superiority, I do love them.  You might also want to look at the grips you can get here!

Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box

in that order.

Yep, EWK is definitely going to get some of my money. Just haven't determined how much yet 🙂

I've tried a lot of grips but always come back to the Hogues.

All that I have for pix right now is my phone.

On the Blues the Woody looks so good!   Look at what LB has created on the side bar.  I hear good things (I haven't jump on them YET)!    Try the different gaps and let us know what you find out!

Good looking DW!Laugh

I usually set my b/c (barrel/cylinder) gap at about .003", on the tightest cylinder chamber. The cylinder faces aren't always true, so you need to rotate it & set your gap on the tightest one.

There isn't a torque that I've read about so far. The manual pretty much says to hand tighten, but not over tighten. I crank 'em down tight with one hand so they're good-n-snug...so that means no breaker bars or air impact drivers.rofl It doesn't hurt to re-check your nut setting after you've run 25-50 rounds down the pipe, just to make sure it's not working it's way loose.
