It simply unscrews: clamp knurled tip of ejector rod between wooden blocks in vise or PADDED locking-jaw pliers. Insert two empty cartridge cases in opposite chambers, and use cases to unscrew cylinder from rod.

worked , I used a towel and channel locks broke free instantly. thanks alot. I white lithium greased and lub oiled the threads now it breaks by hand... I was Surprised to see the extractor rod was 1 solid piece. On my old S&W the extractor was a hollow threaded sleeve over the extractor rod. Folks wern't kidding when they said "Imho Dan Wesson is of arguably better quality than S&W " the more I delve into the architecture and implementation of the architecture the more impressed I am with DW. And to think 3 weeks ago i'd never even had heard of DW. Amazing , I truly feel like I may have stumbled upon the holy grail of revolvers. proud-to-be-an-american

Glad to help.  On some of my revolvers I've used a bit of fine (black) emory cloth to smooth it up a bit, too.

Be sure to retighten fairly firmly, if not this can loosen up  and back out a little during shooting.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

And that doesn't mar up the extractor rod?

I've never had one get marred--if I'm working on someone else's guns, I wrap them with plastic tubing just to make sure.

A drill chuck grabs from all sides so it should mar less than a pliers. I have never seen a scratch.

Glad you like your Dan Wesson and welcome to the club. One of the most helpful posts I've ever seen to improve your action and trigger pull is:

https://www.danwessonforum.com/forum/reloading/tuning-up-your-15-2-the-average-joe-method

Do this work and add some Wolff springs and it will feel like a well worn Smith. Not quite as slick but very very good. Btw you can just clip a single coil off of the hammer spring and it feels just like the 7.5 lb. Woff spring. I learned this because when I changed springs I could not tell any difference.

Good advice here. I've had more than one of mine work loose while shooting, if I have left the rod hand tight. I slip a piece of rubber hose over mine, then grip it with pliers to tighten the rod into the extractor. You don't need to crank on it hard, just snug it up tighter than you can do by hand.
