Stopped at Cabela's a few days ago and there it was...a D.W. rimfire that called to me. My first D.W. rimfire.
I could not help myself. I'm really looking forward to taking it out back to see how it shoots. The target in the box indicates a 1991 firing. Nice group...but at what yardage?
Here are a few pics...it even came with a nice box and all the goodies. I'd give it a conservative 98%

Based on the "Vent Count" formula it's a 10"
Bob- if you would PM me with that Serial # I'd like to add it to the Serial Number Registry.
Finally- Great catch on an uncommon DW. I have always found rimfires (auto and revolver) to be pretty ammunition sensitive in accuracy, I've been known to sample well over a dozen different brands/types, and select one that works well for each pistol.
I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Glad so many of you folks enjoyed seeing the pics. It's surely a thing of beauty. I can see very little evidence of any serious range use. I'm not going to tell you how much I had to pay, but when a gun calls to you…it's got to happen.
Steve,
I will PM the s/n info
Yep, it's a 10"

Thanks for the kind words.
I do have a question...
What "grade" or shall I say abrasiveness level Scotch Pad should I use on this gun's stainless finish to touch up the few light scratches/mars on the gun's barrel. I think I was told once but for the life of me I can not remember.
BTW...the little brown envelope in the box has never been opened since it was packed at the factory.
Also, the target that came with the gun...anyone know at what yardage this gun would have been test fired at???

White is the least abrasive, might be difficult to find. You might try very gently with steel wool or sandpaper.

I have heard that their indoor test range was 25 yards, so I'm assuming it was tested on their "standard" test range. I would welcome any proof to the contrary.
BTW, if the scratches/scuffs are light, you may find that a single application of Flitz polish will do the trick.

SteveCT,
Thanks for the link!
Charger Fan,
I have some Flitz. I may just try it.
Shootist,
I may not mail it right out...just yet anyway.
The finish looks very close to the Freedom Arms brushed stainless finish. I've seen light scratches disappear on some of my friends' F.A. revolvers...thought I'd give it a go as the previous owner left a couple very light scratches under the barrel (normal and expected).
OK, I guess since this is a "unusual" D.W....trying to establish a value will be pretty tough. I am sure I did not get a bargain, but would a gun in this configuration & condition be worth $850? Regardless, I'm happy and have no regrets, but it's always nice (comforting) to know I could get my money back at some point in the future. What do they say...?...You NEVER pay too much, you just buy too soon!
It's been so stinking hot and hunid I've not pop'd a cap in this gun yet. I'm hoping for a cooler day to try the gun at 25 and 50 yards. I expect some of my Wolf Target ammo will be worth a try. My Anschutz sure likes that stuff. I expect I may have to try different ammo as was suggester above...heck, that's half the fun!

I would guess that $850 is at the upper end of what they usually go for...but most of the ones I've seen haven't been as clean as yours appears to be, either. As you said, it's worth it to YOU, and that's all that matters. I've definitely overpaid for some of my guns, but they still make me smile when I hold them.
