Hello,
I just found this DW forum. I bought this gun new in 1995 from my local gun club and the guy said he was going to call in a favor and order me something "special". Anyway, I havent been able to find another on any sales etc. Is it rare or just a low production? It is all original with the sights, grips, comp.. I mostly shot target .38's wadcutters and a few .357 semi- cutters the old guy would cast for me. I still reload those same bullets he made. I have never shot it much and just recently got it out after about 26 years of storage. It was clean, I just shot some and boy is it accurate.

They come up on GB once in a while, and they come in various lengths, as you can tell from the box. I would not say they are rare, but not as frequent as the interchangeable barrel models. Dan's are sought after mostly because of the interchangeable barrel lengths. But true collectors buy them just to have all the models. These are my thoughts anyway. Beautiful piece!
Pretty much what DA....64 said. The fixed barrels were low production numbers. Many Law Enforcement Agencies specifications required fixed barrel revolvers. Dan Wesson tried to break into the Law Enforcement niche. But, S&W had a monopoly on most of the nation's law enforcement agencies. Dan Wesson never had a fighting chance. Fixed barrels are usually 3" & 5". Yours however, is a Fixed Barrel Compensated which is more uncommon.
Value? Typically FBs do not sell for much above a swap-able barrel Dan. That being said, yours, an FBC, with factory box and papers, and order form or receipt could likely fetch a premium on par with "First Issue" DWs for those collectors that are trying to check off a list.
An identical one was on GB on 07/01/2024, ser#357S009121 was listed in CA, with a starting bid of $1599. There were no bidders for that one. One might speculate that based on the ser# range of this one from 2024 GB listing and yours, that at least a thousand were made.
Dollar-wise? As little as $800. As much as $1500+ to the right collector.
Fixed Barrels were never on my bucket list of Dans. But, I might spend up to $900 on another 5" if an opportunity presented itself?

I like them they are kinda rare now only because nobody bought them new back in the 90's so lack of sales back then = to a bit more rare now. The 44 magnums are much more rare than the 357 magnums and the blue ones both in 357 & 44 magnums are quite rare. I see the 715-FB's go for $600 to $750 the 44 mag's $750 to $900 the blue ones It's hard to say i've only seen one other than the one I have come up for sale. Also there are very rare ones with a compensated barrel out there (They only have 2 vents on top) I was lucky to find a 44-FB that was polished or nickel plated (not sure how to tell the difference) One more thing Mitchell (High Standard) bought some of these guns from Wesson Firearms and re-branded them as Mitchell Titans under the Mitchell Arms name and the Titans are super rare!

I agree with what DA,Scout and Stan said . I too eschewed FBs because the fascination of DWs to me is the interchangable barrel lengths. I did finally buy one because the price was right . Some folks want one of every length. As far as I know they made 3 , 4 , 5 ,6 ,7 and 8" fixed barrels . The even inch seem scarcer except the 4". As Stan said, blued are very scarce. You might say rare. Lol .
Also ,there are BAs with fixed barrel shroud configuration and lengths but are interchangable. I have a 3" 'Palmer SS BA and a Norwich 3" Heavy BA . I collect 3 inch barrel revolvers . Manurhins, Korths ,DWs and others. No 3" Python yet. Not talking about the Faux Pythons from CZ . As far as Smith N frames 31/2" the bomb.
