I have a very accurate 44VH8 that I want to add a Burris FastFire electronic sight to. They make a mount for the FastFire that merely replaces the rear sight on many handguns. I wrote to Burris and asked if they had one to specifically fit the DW and they said I would have to find a sight base that fits another revolver and have it fitted by a gunsmith. So my questionis, whose rear sight comes the closest to fitting DW adjustable rear sight dimensionally? Thanks in advance.  DWAS

Welcomerick, I do not know first hand, but I remember reading somewhere that Ruger Blackhawk sights would work. I do not know if it is true, or which size frame they were referring to. But it may be a place to start looking. Let us know what you find and good luck.

Have you considered drilling and tapping the shroud to mount a short piece of Picatinny, then mount the FastFire there? Mine is mounted on a Browning Buckmark, and is mounted about midpoint along the top of the pistol, which feels very natural pointing and shooting. Won't work with a holster, though.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I really don't want to alter the gun. DW's have not been made for nearly 20 years now and I firmly believe when the gun collecting fraternity catches on to what great guns these are, prices will escalate sharply. I think it's great to have a hobby where you can use your guns and hopefully get your investment back at a later date. Wink

Rick, actually DW is still in business, they are owned by CZ but still operate in Norwich. Revolver production did cease in about 2008 but we have been given hope they will resume next year. My dates may be a little off but should be close. You can still purchase parts including barrels and shrouds from them ( while pricey) and you can  have one shroud original and one with the optics mounted, makes for a quick and easy change. And of course we are the gun collecting fraternity(as far as DW goes) Wink.

P.S If you are patient we have a member EWK who is closing in on supplying aftermarket barrels and shrouds. among other parts and accessories.Smile

I went to the CZ/Dan Wesson site and their prices on new barrels and shrouds seem quite high. I hope someone comes out with more affordable barrels and shrouds. That's one reason I like the Burris FastFire electronic sight. You merely replace the rear sight with their base and you can switch back anytime without hurting the gun.
