Well it cycled fine before i changed the stock cowboy grips to hogue grips and now neither single or double will work with cylinder open or close when you try to cock for single action it stops half way feels like something is stopping it from cocking all the way . and double action cylinder cycles but again the hammer feels like something is stoping its cycle.

any ideas?  I couldn't imagine why changing the grips would affect it

Changing the grips may have changed to depth of the grip screw, which affects the mainspring and guide.  Try backing it out a bit; you may need to add a washer to keep the grips tight.

wow that was the problem and seeing how far out i had to back the screw to get it to work in single and double doesnt give me much confidence in the hogue's  considering there's now about a 1/16 -1/8 of an inch play in the grips .    adding washers was not in the product description or instructions . hahaha now i feel like i got a ghetto blaster seeing  i have to put washers in it ….tsk tsk tsk hogue I am not pleased.

meh i dunno if thats possible either i had to really crank that thing down to get the threads to catch.   Serious hogue shoulda put a metal clip on top and bottom of the screw hole to give it a little support instead of the same pliable rubber that just gives and compresses when you crank it down

Had the same issue with mine, I got a shorter cap screw from Home Depot, works fine.

Well I see others beat me to the punch.

You have a common problem. The grip change caused the grip screw to go too far into the grip stud interfering with cocking. Just get a shorter screw or use a washer or two until you find the correct depth. Once the screw starts in the threads, about 5 or so revolutions is plenty.

you don't need to crank it down once it engages the threads--you just need it to hold the grip on.  I only use two fingers on the short end of an allen wrench.

The hogue has a hard plastic insert, but you will crack/crush it if you put too much pressure on it.
