I joined the SuperMag club and now I'll need some dies to reload the 357 SuperMag brass.  I don't have any of that yet either so can anybody suggest a good supplier for either or both?  I was thinking Reeds for ammo and that should start the supply of empty brass, so dies would be a good idealaugh.

I can't wait for the gun to arrive!

I just read an article on the net that said you can use 357 magnum carbide dies to reload the supermag, I haven't measured yet but does anybody else do this?  I'm having trouble seeing the standard dies being long enough for the SM.

.357 mag dies work; you don't need SM dies, necessarily.

You typed that as I was asking that very question, thanks for the info, thats actually good as I just picked up a brand new set of 357 mag RCBS dies at a sale for $10.00, still in the wrapper too.

I use the 357 Magnum die. There is an 1/8 inch difference in height of the cartridge. You just have to make that adjustment. Good luck.

Scorpio,

I have used the magnum dies also, they work.  If you can find a set of SM dies it just saves you the hassle of adjusting dies as you change your loading to magnums for the model 15's

A man cannot have too many SuperMags

Actually have two sets of 357 mag dies, just got the one at auction Sat.  I've got a Dillon press so I'll just get a seperate tool head so I don't have to mess with the dies once setup.

Oh! One other thing if you buy a .38/.357 mag die it won't work with the 357 SM.  The .357 Mag. will work with the .357 SM. I believe that is correct.

Here is what I have,  let me know if you think either of these will work.

First, I have a set of RCBS "group B part#18208 combo die set 38/357 RN SWC WC"

Second, is a set of LEE 357 Magnum dies from the die itself, "LEE 357 MAG -G9" on the seating die, on the deprime die "LEE 38-357 JS" and on the powder die "LEE  357 F9"

So will either of these work on the SM?  If not, at least I have plenty of dies for my 357.

I can't speak to all dies but my set is labled for 38 special/357 magnum/357 max. As long as the die and decapper is long enough to do the max I believe it will do them all.  Should only take one attempt to find out. Others may know better.  Good luck.

The newer Lee 38/357 mag dies will work for 357 max.

The only die that matter is the sizer die.

You want to size the whole case so you need a die that accept the full length of the 357 max case.

The powder through die and seater die can be adjusted to accept the longer cases. You could use standard 38 special dies for these steps if you want.
