OfflineI used to know, but have forgotten.
Many of my cases have an embossed "ring" about 3/4 way up the case, (4th from left, red arrows point to it) it was used to identify something, but what was it?

Offline^^ Correct. Some manufacturers produced cannelured brass cartridges to prevent bullet setback. Nowadays, I think it's not as pronounced and therefore just a leftover mark for identification (IMO). Doesn't matter for reloads as you may or may not use the same bullet as the OEM. Â
Technically, the glass is always full; half liquid, half air....

I'm not talking about the slight bulge in the case, but the indicated (red arrows) engraved cannalure further down.
