OfflineI picked up another 15-2 to tinker with
... It is in great condition except for a little endplay in the cylinder.
The barrel/cylinder gap was uneven more than usual, so it was time to play.... Out came the lathe.
I faced off the cylinder and was amazed how uneven it was--no nice smooth cut, just a chunk, chunk, chunk as it only hit on one side of the cylinder. I also hit the forcing cone end of the barrel with some emery cloth on a machinist plate to square it off.
I put a final polish cut on it and it looks perfect now. All my cylinders are within about .001" now. If it wasn't for the endplay, I think I could get it even closer. I may have to play with the cylinder ball pressure a little bit.
As long as the camera was out, I figured I'd show you guys my "high tech" machining equipment
...
Here she is, roughly 1937 era .... old, but gets the job done... kind of like me !

I LOVE the high tech environmentally friendly colored adhesive, same color I use for just about everything.
Nice lathe too. Everyone needs to have something to play with when the WIFE
kicks you out of the house.
Hey I'll show you mine, since you showed me yours.

Looks like an old Sun ignition tester meter in the background, too.
ÂÂShoot, that's a great way to true-up a cylinder!

Wish I had a man-cave to hide in. So far I have half the carport with the tbird and my computer desk.
Soap Box, Ballot Box, Ammo Box
in that order.
