Gentlemen, I am the original owner of a Dan Wesson Custom 1911 with ser# L__01CZ.  I believe it is he first custom that DW made of this particular model.  Does anyone have any idea what I could get for it?  Thanks.

Any model marking on the left side of the slide? The first number in the serial number should be the year, that may help in identifying this also.

LH side "Custom" is inscribed in script.

Invoice date is 3/31/2008.

After some looking it seems that if you ordered from DW's custom shop that is the slide that came on the gun, if say you didn't want a custom Valor, Razorback, etc. I've seen a couple of bobtails and a few govt models this way. A custom is just that, it was made to someone's personal specs, so yes it is a one off gun per say but no more collectable to an average gun buyer. Most collectors look for the limited runs of certain models or low number production of guns that weren't that popular at their time of production and didn't sell well or they were discontinued for one reason or another. I'd say this is close to maybe a Marksman gun from that time a low  production count pistol. I've seen them 'listed' around $1000 +/- a couple hundred depending on market condition. Put it on GB at a penny start auction if you want to sell without waiting. It will usually find it's 'right now' market price.
