Had an hour to kill, so I took the 741 and SA Xdm in .45 ACP.  Both of these guns shoot awesome.  I have shot the 741 with both the 8" and the 6'.  The 6" balances better, the 8" devours recoil and I can hold it steady when shooting double action.  Just plinking loads today of 8gr Unique Under a 215 grain Hi-Tek coated Bayou Lead File_001-5.jpgImage Enlarger

Did you modify the foam of the PP case for the large frame stuff?

Surprised the semi-wadcutters left such a jagged hole in the target paper.

I did nothing to the case, but I purchased the 741 exactly as you see it, so I have no idea if the seller did anything to the case.  Not sure why the semi wad cutters didn't make cleaner circle cuts.

Nice shooting!  I love the 41 mag cartridge, it is one of my favorites.

What range do you use?

I have only been shooting 41 mag for a few months. I agree awesome cartridge. I shoot both the DW 741 and the Ruger Redhawk and the bullets go exactly where I aim.  I shoot open sights and much prefer double action shooting.  I am thinking this 741 will be my handgun hunting rig this winter.  I do not intend to attach a scope to my handguns as I would rather handgun hunt almost like bow hunting and keep my shots under 40 yards.  I bought some 210 grain Swift A-Frame bullets and will load those for Whitetail.   I shoot at Hummelstown Field and Stream.  It is the closest to my home and very affordable membership.  Harrisburg Hunters and Anglers is a much nicer facility but twice the driving distance for me and more expensive.

I've never shot at either range but hear that HH&A is a nice facility.

HH&A is a great range.  I shoot there every Wed for Bullseye over the summer months.  .41 Caliber is a great choice, very accurate.

Hate to butt in but I just bought my first Super Mag last night on GB the stainless from the auction of the California man that had multiple listings.  What ammo do you recommend for plinking and cartridge that shows the pistol's awesome power?  Nice grouping will consider a 41 Mag next I think.  You guys got me hooked!

What caliber is the super mag you just purchased?  I can comment on 357 Maximum max loads haven't really messed around with light loads for 357 Max.  I have been focused mostly on the 41 Mag for reloading for several months now and I have not done much with the 445 Super Mag. I am still too enamored with the 41 Mag.  I'll get around to the 445 Someday, but I am almost certain that I will be hunting with 41 Mag so that will be the focus of my reloading for the next several months.
