Pardon the length...

So a buddy of mine (Special Reaction Team Chief on post) stopped in my office yesterday to gripe about the Army's new "green ammo", the M855A1 Enhanced Performance Round.  He showed me pictures of his LaRue popups that are clipped, punched, and splashed with holes and craters.  "Works just like it's supposed to", I say and then we entered into discussions about what we've been shooting personally.  Seems we both have an affinity for the 10mm.

He talked about how they almost match 41 mag performance and I tell him about the 220gr cast boolits I've crafted and that I'm getting 1200+fps and still working up the loads.  He asked what I'm shooting them out of and I showed off the PM 7-10.  He says yep- that's nice, but how many rounds do you carry?  So then a discussion ensued about magazine capacity blah, blah, blah...   OK, so his Glock carries 15...  well, I've been thinking about it all day as I'm watching ball and drinking beer.  Gotta head to San Antonio in the AM, so I wasn't hunting....  just drinking beer and watching TV, and...surfing the internet.  A dreaded combination.  So, I break the cycle and have a Rum and Coke...then another Guinness...

And then it happened.  Leshia left me alone with my beer, rum, football, and internet.  Needless to say it wasn't long before I found a bare Glock 20 SF, then a cut out long slide, slide internals, 6" ported barrel, springs, guide spring rod, sights, magazines, and my credit card... all said and done, I've got about as much in it as what I paid for the Dan.

The only saving grace is that when it's raining or I drop it while hunting, it won't hurt as bad as it would with the PM7-10...

Anyway.  That's what happens when I get bored and drink....  when I re-read this next weekend, I should have pics.

I'd say that by now she knows the danger  of " Leshia left me alone with my beer, rum, football, and internet".

I'm ALL IN on "It's her fault, she should have known better!"

Since I have forgiven my son for his faults (Glock), I will comment no more wink

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

Not sure what you meant by 'bare' G20SF and you didn't mention brand of the long slide and barrel. I'm guessing a Glock long slide with comped barrel and a frame? A G20SF was my first polymer pistol. It does take up some of the recoil over a steel pistol. Their barrels normally slug at .401 and their chambers are 'generous'…I say this as you mentioned using lead. Both lead to a little less velocity than you'd see with your DW with the same loading but that's why they feed and fire most anything reliably. Hard not to like, even for an old fart like myself that's always liked steel and wood. Later I added a Lone Wolf long slide, barrel, and comp.

Since all the Glock models share so many internal parts I sometimes wonder if their production cost exceeds 75.00 per unit.laugh

Yep, bare slide Ed, and I have all the upper and internals coming from LWD.  This will be my first Glock build.  My primary CCW is a stock G27 with a +2 grip. Previously, I traded a Glock 17 for a S&W 15 as I tend to lean towards revolvers and 1911s, myself.

Just something different and I had a full belly of Guinness...  still woke up relatively early though.

Oops…..then you already knew all that.wink My excuse is my medicinal application of a gallon or so of Miller Low Life….not classy, but it's cheap.

Are you trying to duplicate the Underwood load with the 220 gr lead in 10mm? I never got much over 1200 fps with 180 gr bullets without smileys. Not just in the Glock barrel.

I think I'll just experiment- I'm using my own cast boolits from a Mountain Mold, sized to .401" but it throws at .403" so I can go larger if needed.

Next is to powder coat some and see how they do.

Ron, you have to buy her something. Maybe a gun she has wanted or a new food processor, mixer or latest cook set. If that doesn't work try a new mattress or bedspread.  Just get her SOMETHING. BTW,  gold or gems ALWAYS work but that is a last resort.

Good deal, you have the size covered. I'd be interested in how the powder coat turns out. Seen it mentioned but know little about it.

I've been dry-tumble powder coating for a bit.  Works fine and is relatively easy to do.  In fact, a lot easier than lubing but more space and more time are required... .452" zombie slayers:

Alright, just in time for Halloween.

Thanks Ron, I'll have to learn some more about this process.

So, tonight I realized I never posted a pic of the glock I put together as mentioned above...2 years too late, but here it is. Haven't harvested the deer or pig yet but it does shoot well....

Here are a couple pics of my G17L playing a "mine's bigger than yours" joke on my buddy. The 6" longslide carries a LWD 9" barrel, with a 33-round factory stick !
