I have read that this 50th Anniversary of High Standard revolver actually is Dan Wesson-made. Does anyone know if that's true? There sure are a lot of similarities, at least superficially ... (I am too ham-fisted to take this one apart.)

No, Dan Wesson did not make the High Standard Crusader series of revolvers. I believe they are very different internally and externally from Dan Wessons. Dan Wesson did make the High Standard Sentinel MK11 and MK111 .357 magnum revolvers. They are comparable to the model 14-1 and 15-1 Dan Wesson 'porkchop' style revolvers.

+1 to what Lonwolf said, the MKII and MKIII are Dan Wesson, but not the Crusader's.

The High Standard name has a pretty "up and down" history.

High Standard part of the glory days of the Connecticut River Valley firearms manufacture, which includes our beloved Dan Wesson.

High Standard has gone through many changes, that particular gun does not have anything to do with Dan Wesson.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman "Were is the Self Help Section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I agree, the only like thing on the 44 seems to be the grip and maybe rear sight!  Though have only seen pictures.  This would be like the the other HS in MK1 and MK lV they carry the same looking ejector as the 44 HS.
