My dad got this "pistol" from an old friend many years ago.  The friend got it from her late husband, and we don't know where he got it.  The only marks are under the hexagonal portion of the "receiver",  if thats what you would call that part of this gun, are serial number 5 didgits I think, and a German eagle and some proof marks.  It also says "Fiebert 6mm".  It is single shot, breach loading single action with no trigger guard.  To load it, you lift a pivoting metal bar and insert the cartridge, though I don't know what kind of cartridge you'd use.  Looks almost like a 22.  To there is a manually operated lever that ejects the spent case.  It has a bead sight on the muzzle of the barrel.  I'd love to know more about this old gun.  I don't even know where to start looking for info.  I'd like to get it appraised at some time too.

Well here goes my attempt at some pics.

Can you elaborate any further?  You've got my attention.

Well I did Google it and so far I can find guns that look close to it but not exactly the same.  I'm guessing that 6mm Flobert is a caliber kind of like 40 Simth and Wesson is a caliber, lots of companies build guns to chamber it.

I found one that was a German make that looks closest to mine.  I think they called it a 'rat gun' and a 'cyclists pistol'.  That Flobert ammo looks like a large BB stuck in a shotgun primer.
Well at least I know what it fires, not that I'd feel comfortable actually shooting this thing.  I think I'll put it in a glass case and look at it instead.

Thanks

Looks like the guys have you covered with google links laugh.... Parlor guns were the inside version of the gallery guns.

Gallery guns were usually 22 short and used at fairs, carnivals, etc.  Parlor guns shot the very short 6mm round you saw in the links.  Kind of like a modern 22 cb cap.

I don't think I could get away with finishing Thanksgiving dinner and offering the guests brandy, cigars, and a round of shooting in the Parlor with pistols laugh...I'm sure the wife would beat me.

Thanks Pinetor, that looks exactly like it!  So I guess it is a Flobert.  I find it interesting that you can still get "ammo" for it.  It could be fun to shoot, maybe I'll work up the nerve to try a round or two.  Seems they get a decent price for them on auction too.  I'll hold on to this one for sentimental value if nothing else.  Its nice to know something about this little gun other than it just being odd looking.

Thanks guys.  This place really IS a wealth of information.
