I had wanted a Python for quite some time but I wanted just a shooter and of course I didn't want to settle for a 6″ barrel, I "needed" an 8″. Well, I ran across a Python barrel on Numrich for $56 (I know I couldn't believe it either) and not just any Python barrel a nickel Python TARGET barrel, so I bought two. Then the search was on for a Colt to put the barrel on they came and went all going for more than I wanted to pay. As I said I wanted something I could shoot and reblue and not feel bad (I wanted a beater in other words). Well i finally found a Model .357 for the price I wanted, also found a Python hammer to put in as well. So i put my "Python shooter' together and here it is:

You can see the dip in the frame for the original barrel which does look kinda funny but I don't care the gun gets used and most people don't notice it anyway.  Now I have a real deal Python that I'll have to take pictures of and yes it's an eight inch and it's Nickel too but this is still my main Colt that I shoot.

Man -- I could have gave you a deal on my original trooper !  For those of you who don't know, the original troopers were "I" frames also.  It was every bit as slick as my Python--it just didn't have the high gloss finish.

Your "shooter" came out really nice.

Superdan sounds like a fun project!  Reading it reminded me of a project on Hamilton Bowen site.  He took a Ruger Redhawk and installed a Colt Anaconda barrel on it.  Below is a picture of it.

Here is a link to Bowen Classic Arms.

Jody, that gun reminds me of these two from a gun show earlier this year...the "Smolt".

Superdan, that is really neat. looks great! Did the frame come with the Millett sight? You just may find out that is going to be a real shooter...those Python Target barrels are very accurate. Great choice getting one of them! Drool  Cool

Some very nice looking Colts. I heard thru the grapevine that Colt is in process of getting back to making double action revolvers again real soon.proud-to-be-an-american

Well, after a 20+ year hiatus, I must say that...IT'S ABOUT FREAKIN' TIME they clued into the buyer's demand. yell  I blame it on the sudden recent market hike of DW's, of course. If it weren't for that, Colt would have never taken notice.big-grin

If only guns could talk.  I just picked up a 577 Snider-Enfield over here.  1867 receiver, 1871 Lockset, a stock stamp that reads 1st P.I and the number 488 on one side and wears both an Enfield War Department and 1885 Firozpur Arsenal Cartouche.  If only....
